Marthaa Torres, Ed.D.

Marthaa Torres is the founder of Joyful Math Labs. An experienced educator, she has served as a teacher, high school principal, and university professor. Prior to forming Joyful Math Labs, Marthaa served as the Director of K-12 Instruction for the 50,000-student Oakland Unified School District, where she was responsible for leading the core content area teams across all school divisions. Her work has been featured by IDEO, The Atlantic Magazine, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, and numerous other organizations. Marthaa completed both a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and a master’s degree in Education at Stanford University, and earned a doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership at the University of Southern California.
